Dear Winnipeg Beach Daycamp parents:

The Board of WBDC has just been informed that the Town of Winnipeg Beach has decided to charge us $50 every time we use the Rec Centre.  As many of you know, in the past we have used the Rec Centre on rainy days.  If we have the same summer as last year, paying $50 each time we use the Rec Centre will severely cut into our operating budget thereby reducing the programming for the summer or it may bankrupt the camp altogether.  Despite our pleas to the Town of Winnipeg Beach, they are enforcing this charge.

As a result, we will have no other choice but to charge a "Rainy day fee" to camp families.  This will be charged each time we have to hold Daycamp at the Rec Centre due to weather.  The fee will be $2 per child or $5 for families with 3 or more children on each "Rain Day".  We are very sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.

For over 50 years, WBDC has been providing a valuable service to the families of Winnipeg Beach and we have asked for very little in terms of support - financial or otherwise. We encourage you to contact the Town of Winnipeg Beach to let your view on this matter be known.

Finally, there is an election in Winnipeg Beach in July and if you are eligible to vote, please do so.  When candidates come knocking at your cottage door, ask them about their views on our camp.  Do they know anything about us?  Do they support us and the service that we provide?  Do they support Winnipeg Beach families and children?

We need a Town Council that is interested in making Winnipeg Beach a family-friendly place with resources made available to families and the organizations that support families in the Winnipeg Beach area.  Now is the time to bring about some positive change.  As an organization, we encourage you to make your
voice heard.

Sincerely,

The Board of WBDC.

Dear Parents

As you all know the mosquitos have been horrible so far this summer. To try and make the staff and campers more comfortable we have hired Sunset Spray (chemical free) to spray the camp grounds. We are asking you to consider making a donation to help us cover this cost.

Thank you in advance for your generosity,

Lea Pollock, Director
And The Winnipeg Beach Day Camp Board of Directors
